Aussie-German Military-industrial Venture to Ramp up Shell Production for Ukraine
By RT News
Rheinmetall Waffe Munition and family-owned Australian company NIOA are looking to bump up production of the German DM121 shells to 100,000 per year at the plant in the rural Queensland town of Maryborough.
The factory is Australia’s only one with a 155 mm shell press, but the rounds have to be shipped to Germany to be fitted with explosive materials and fuses.
Washington and Canberra are also reportedly considering extending a license to the NIOA plant to produce standard US Army M795 155mm shells, as the US cannot keep up with demand.
