Update: EU Summit paves the way for the European Commission to send frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
The final statement from Thursday’s meeting pledged 50 billion euros to Ukraine, with 33 billion coming in the form of loans guaranteed by the Union budget, and the further 17 billion from “a new thematic instrument the Ukraine Reserve.”
The statement clarifies: “Potential revenues could be generated under the relevant Union legal acts, concerning the use of extraordinary revenues held by private entities stemming directly from the immobilized Central Bank of Russia assets.”
A fancy way of saying stealing is legal now?
